5 Things I've Learned When Meeting Instagrammers
Happy holidays my wandering nuggets and OMG it's the last day of the year and I wouldn't let this year end without a blog post! hoho.
They say nothing good happens after 2 am (as per Old Ted Mosby) but well I beg to differ.
Around 5 am last November 29 I sent a message to one of my instafriends, Darren, asking him what's his plans on the 30th. He then invited me to hike in Tanay, Rizal and what an impeccable timing it was because I was itching to hike last month. Me and Darren have been friends for a month at that time and we have never met in person so I was really excited!
Here's what I've learned when meeting Instagrammers
1. There's no such thing as strangers
Meeting an instagrammer that you have been talking to for months is like meeting an old friend. We didn't go through the "awkward silence" phase. We immediately got along well and he is exactly the same bubbly person that I talk to on Instagram. It was really funny seeing him for the first time, we were screaming and shouting for joy as if we haven't seen each other for years! I know for a certain not all instameets would be like what I had experienced so I am truly lucky it turned out this way.
2. Instameets = Instant photo shoots
Because times like this where you get to collaborate with other instagrammers come once every blue moon! Prior to our hike (which was like 24 hours before the hike), we already discussed the things that we need to bring and inspos for our photos. It took us half a day to reach the top of Mt Batolusong because we had so many stops along the way for photos. I alone had like a 100 shots! Thanks friends haha!
3. Instagrammers will inspire and motivate you to improve your skill/craft.
I love how we supported one another in taking photos or modelling in front of the camera. And even after our hike, we showed our support through our Instagram accounts. And all these positive aura is motivating me to do my best in my IG game and story telling. It's nice to be surrounded with people who share the same passion for travel and photography.
4. Instameets can also be a learning process.
Being able to meet instagrammers lets you see the world in their perspective. Everyone has their own taste and style and during this hike I was able to learn a thing or two about photography.
5. There will always be a next time!
Instameets will never be just a one time thing! We already have set our summer getaway next year and I can't wait to see them all again!
This year I really maximized my Instagram account by reaching out and connecting to people from all over the world who share the same thirst for creativity and adventures. It was really nice to be able to meet new friends through this app and next year I am definitely gonna do this again!
So if you're in the area, or I am in your area. Hit me a message! Let's meet and collaborate!
